Dear Johnson County Resident:

I am a candidate for Board of Supervisors, challenging three incumbents. I am writing to ask for your support and your vote in the June 3rd Democratic primary election. My interest in serving as a Supervisor has evolved over many years. I co-founded Friends of the Iowa River Scenic Trail (FIRST) in 1990. The mission of FIRST was to create a continuous trail from Napoleon Park to the Coralville Reservoir. This mission has been accomplished and exceeded. Today the network of trails that started at zero is over 40 miles. This was achieved by being committed to the mission, working hard and gaining support for public funding. I would bring the same commitment, perseverance, and foresight to the Board of Supervisors.

My approach for serving Johnson County will be to seek public input, collaborate with our elected and appointed leaders, and then move forward with sound decisions. I will focus on three broad areas if I am elected:

Good county budget

I am concerned about the recent double digit percentage increase in the budget. A vote for me is to bring a new view to the budget process and to challenge big budgets.

Good environment

I am concerned about water quality and the implementation of the Land Use Plan. A vote for me is to support efforts to confront these important environmental issues.

Good Roads

I am concerned that the county does not have a ‘complete roads’ standard. Our local communities involved in JCCOG have had a ‘complete streets’ standard for over 10 years. A vote for me is to work towards a county road standard.

I have enclosed additional information about my candidacy. I need your support on June 3rd to move forward on these initiatives. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Terry Dahms
